There was nothing but action from excellent goals, skills, and grit to hard-running and fierce tackling during a recent tournament hosted by the West Rand Ballers Academy.

Lots of goals were celebrated and plenty of skills were on display when the West Rand Ballers Academy hosted a tournament for various clubs and academies around the West Rand and parts of Johannesburg recently.

According to West Rand Ballers coach Junior Mwale, the tournament, held at Alma Mater International School, was organised and hosted by West Rand Ballers Academy to develop young players who strive to pursue a professional football career.

There were various teams across the district and Johannesburg in various age groups eager to show off their talent on the field. So far, the academy has seen one player turn professional in the past year and who went on to play in the ABC Motsepe League commonly known as the South African Football Association’s Second Division.

On top of that the academy has seen some of its talented youngsters go overseas for trials at international academies. This year the academy hopes to take its players to the next level. Throughout the day there was nothing but action from excellent goals, skills and grit to hard-running and fierce tackling.
