On track to realising his Proteas dream

A young cricket player from Pro-Practicum has been included in the SA LSEN cricket squad.

The 17-year-old Earl Kock from Pro-Practicum School was recently chosen to be part of the South African Learners with Special Education Needs (LSEN) cricket squad.

This all-rounder is a remarkable off-spinner and batsman who looks up to Quinton de Kock, his cricket idol. He has been a cricketer for the past eight years and one of his first memories in the sport was playing cricket in the streets with family.

The achievement means that he is one step closer to his ultimate goal of one day becoming a Protea player.

After attending the SA LSEN national cricket week in George, Earl received the news that he was chosen for the team. He explained that he would like to continue his cricket career to see how far he can get.
“This means that all my hard work has paid off. I am on my way to play for the central Gauteng Lions.”

Another fond cricket memory is the time that his father coached him.

To stay fit, Earl runs in the afternoons and his advice for young cricket players is to do your best and never give up on your dreams.

“Practice, practice and practice more. Listen to your team and coach and be able to read the game,” he added.
