Two-day river race prepare canoeists for Dusi

They finished their race in two hours and 52 minutes without any incidents or problems.

The Dusi Canoe Marathon, which takes place from Pietermaritzburg to Durban annually, is the world’s toughest canoe endurance event.

It’s a gruelling 120km race over three days, which includes running with your boat over hills and through bush, as well as paddling through major rapids and exciting white-water technical challenges.

This year the Dusi takes place from 27 to 29 February.

Krugersdorp resident Paul Nel partnered with Louis van Rooyen from Germiston to participate in the Klip River Race from Daleside to Meyerton on Sunday, 26 January, a distance of 33km where the paddlers had to run for a few kilometres carrying their boat as a test try-out for the upcoming Dusi.

They finished their race in two hours and 52 minutes without any incidents or problems, and thoroughly enjoyed the pleasant conditions and the workout.
