For some reason, I didn’t receive the January 15 edition of the Krugersdorp News and so in early April, after attempting to call you, I contacted Clinton, the News’ editor, to enquire as to whether you were alright and what had happened to your wonderful little insert in the paper.

I was shocked to hear you had laid down your pen, but even more so to realise you’d been at it for 40 years when Clinton sent me your farewell article. I’m a relative newbie to your articles having only lived in Krugersdorp for just over 15 years!

I am not a religious person at all – an agnostic would best describe me – but I always looked forward to your articles and the succinct way in which you imparted your pearls of wisdom (which some in their misunderstanding might be tempted to say were cast before swine in my case!).
May I take this opportunity to thank you for your service? Perhaps instead of publishing your articles as a book you might consider having them published on the internet where they can be more widely accessible.
