‘Patience is a virtue’ – Mayor responds to ANC letter

The Executive Mayor of Mogale City has responded to a letter from the opposition, saying irresponsible frustration tactics not only hold the residents at ransom but are tantamount to sabotage, and some may even go so far as to say, such conduct is treasonous immaturity.

• Tyrone Gray, Executive Mayor of Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) writes:

The facts of the matter are that the motion will be heard at an ordinary council on April 12, 2023. The ANC either submitted their motion late (after January 2023) or must wait, they are frustrating the council by irresponsibly not attending the council.

The leader of the opposition Councillor Sele stated in a public meeting that if they don’t get what they want they won’t support the items. These irresponsible frustration tactics not only hold the residents at ransom but is tantamount to sabotage, and some may even go so far as to say, such conduct is treasonous immaturity.

Ordinary meetings are called every quarter. The last one was in January 2023. The next quarter starts in April.

The speaker sent notice of the ordinary meeting in early March 2023 already and yet those same councillors who know when the motion will be heard are not attending council and are not attending council committee meetings either. About the audit, that’s for the financial year 2021/ 2022. A budget was crafted and implemented in July 2021. The election for the Executive Mayor was on November 23, 2021. Almost halfway through the budget year already.

This is an objective fact, that the budget was crafted and implemented almost 50% by the previous administration, already before the outcome of the election for Speaker Chief Whip and Executive Mayor. Now they want to pretend that they suffer from short-term memory loss.

Concerning honest, authentic, and genuine reporting, it is far better to report transparently instead of sugar-coating sweet lies, as the previous ANC administration purports.

The ANC and EFF are in the majority, but rules also apply to the majority, and they should be followed with due process and respect their duties as councillors, as well as their oath of office, irrespective of their political agendas, they should be placing service delivery first.

Patience is a virtue – the ANC expects of South Africans after 29 years of declining service delivery and empty promises, now this same ANC can’t wait eight weeks. This shows who cares about people and who cares about power (which they previously had with dololo action).

At least the voters can finally see the true yellow cowardice colours of how underhanded the ANC is, come 2024 they must be unceremoniously and unapologetically plucked from their decadent nests. Saving South Africa requires removing the ANC.
