Matric results 2020

Pastor Gerrit Mes; from the pulpit.

Congratulations to all our achievers of the 2019 academic year. Their advice is valuable for all the students that follow. “Work hard, work wise, don’t give up.” Your reward may be a few coveted distinctions. Like in most fields of life, the Bible proverb is so true. “You reap what you have sown.” So, so true! But, and it is a big but, in the background is a group of people that also deserve some recognition – parents, teachers, schools and friends. People who have also sown into their lives. As in life, matric results on their own are neither a destination nor an end. Maybe they are only the launch pad for more to reap in the future.

Because each one of us is more than the sum of our grey matter (brain), we also need to look at our spiritual lives. As we go into a year full of challenges and uncertainty, let’s from day one invest in times of quiet meditation and reflection.

These role-model students invested thousands of hours over a period of 12 years to achieve these results. But how often do we reason that we don’t have time to pray. Schedules, deadlines looming all the time. This year I choose to invest in my physical, mental and spiritual development.

It is true to say you are the sum of your own choices. In 2020, may God help us to invest where we get the best returns. Amen.
