Often when I sit at my desk, pen in hand, a blank sheet of paper in front of me, I ask who will read what I am about to write? Where are they at? Can what I write, maybe with God’s help, make a difference? +/- 300 words to make an impact.
No matter what I write, nothing can change your past, but maybe it can influence your tomorrow. So here goes … God loves you! Three words that may make you feel better or worse. Better, if you start to count all your blessings and you realise He does love you. Worse, if you honestly ask, if He loves you, why this mess? Other people’s lives seem so easy, yours is an uphill battle. Worse, if you feel a bit of guilt for things you have done.
“God loves me” is a very different concept. Why does He love me? What do I owe Him? Then I realise that I have interpreted “God loves me” in such a human way. Love, for me, has Ts and Cs – terms and conditions.
What makes God’s love so amazing is that it is so different. His love is pure, unconditional and eternal. Where most of us are at, love is selfish, self-centered and temporal.
You have been hurt, disappointed, betrayed by people who said they love you. Many of us honestly don’t even believe in love where we are at. Love, true love, is more than words. True love, God’s love, reaches all of us, no matter where we are at.
