The blame game

Pastor Gerrit Mes; from the pulpit.

Politicians are great at finding things on which to blame their failures. With elections taking place in a few weeks’ time, many of us are thinking about who we should vote for. Different parties are appealing to us to support them. Who are you going to vote for? The worst answer to this question is, “I am not going to vote.” I really believe every person has to vote, but I’m often asked, “But, Pastor Mes, who must I vote for?”

You can cast your vote on historical issues or even hysterical issues. You can vote for hope or fear.

As I consider my own vote, I am looking for a political party that will take responsibility for its actions. Don’t blame the past, don’t blame another racial group. Our problems come largely from our own actions and lack of action.

Adam blamed Eve, Eve blamed the snake, and the snake did not have a leg to stand on.

The problem in Adam and Eve’s lives wasn’t the snake, it was something in their own hearts – evil desires.

You and I cannot blame others for all of our problems. Take the responsibility of your choices and then ask God to help you learn from them and not to repeat them. See you on election day.
