The crime in Krugersdorp West, West Village to be exact, is getting out of hand.
This has long been coming and the police allowed the situation to get out of hand and out of control.
Every night there are gun fights, and it is scary. Everybody knows the zama-zamas (illegal miners) are in control and do as they please. We suspect the police are not willing to arrest the criminals because they pay them. They dig and mine wherever they want, they bring big trucks with loads of mining soil for purification at the shacks. The ever-growing community of shacks is mainly occupied by foreigners.
The locals are definitely getting suffocated. Believe me, a lot is still to happen, because slowly but surely the situation is getting out of hand.
The mine security services will never ever control what’s happening here. Sooner or later, people are going to die.
The question is: Why is our government not coming in and clean the mess? We all know that the zama-zamas are the ones causing havoc and most, if not all of them, are foreigners who have less than no regard and respect for the law, let alone the local people and their properties. This is not xenophobic but it’s the truth.
Again, there is going to be war, xenophobic probably, because, trust me, this is a ticking time-bomb.
