What was going through his mind?

Pastor Gerrit Mes; from the pulpit.

As we look at the news on television, the chaos and heartaches, it’s possible that we want to ask, “What was on God’s mind when He made us?”

What was He thinking? What did He desire out of it? No one can answer that question, except God. Recently I pondered on global warming, rhino poaching and large-scale poverty. I wondered why the cruelty to animals, and probably most shocking, human cruelty to humans, murder, rape, woman and child abuse; unimaginable cruelty within our human family.

Surely this was not God’s purpose?
But what was He thinking? To get a glimpse into God’s plan, we must look at the Bible, the Garden of Eden. That is before we destroyed the dream.

Clues are easy to find. God created mankind in his image. Then He walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day.
He walked with Enoch and Noah. Could it be possible that God created us for friendship and fellowship?

But we will give him our old clothes, extra food and spare cash. We will, from time to time, give him an hour on a Sunday morning. Great as that sounds, He may desire something different. You! Could it be possible that God’s desire is to walk with you, seven days a week? When last did you make time for quiet meditation, just you and God?
