Why did God create humans?

A hundred different people may give a hundred different answers.

Watching the news on TV, I often wonder why God created us.

He was doing so well with the fauna and flora. We are constantly making war, killing innocent people, robbing and raping. We are killing our beautiful planet and placing more and more animals on critically endangered lists – rhinos for their horns and elephants for their tusks. We actively pollute the air and water systems.

So why did God create us?

A hundred different people may give a hundred different answers. Some say God created us for work, naming the animals and taking care of the forest. Like cheap labour. I cannot believe it. Others say God created us to worship Him. My response is, does God have an ego problem? No, my friend. Although we have to work and, yes, we should worship, I think we have missed the point.

He created us for fellowship, companionship and maybe even friendship. Why do I believe this?

God walked with Adam and Eve in the garden. He walked with Enoc, He spoke to Moses face to face.

But He called Abraham His friend. Imagine if God and you could be friends. From start to finish, the Bible hints towards God’s desire for friendship with us.
