Tell yourself, I am blessed

Pastor Gerrit Mes; from the pulpit.

Can you imagine my heartache when a friend in casual conversation said the following: “I find very little pleasure in anything in life.” What makes the situation more tragic is that this friend is about 60, healthy, happily married with 3 special children. He owns a beautiful home in Krugersdorp and one in Cape Town. He has his own business and from the outside he is the picture of success.

Before you throw stones, hear me out. Many people in our society today are perfect proof that you can have it all and still feel something is missing.

Great responsibility, lots of stress and no time to reflect can cause this strange phenomenon.

How can you beat the devil and start to enjoy life again?

Take stock of your life. Maybe make some difficult but essential changes.

Take regular breaks, a walk in the park, a picnic or an outride on your motorbike if you have one.

Look at and notice the beauty of nature, maybe put out some fruit and seeds for God’s little birds; watch them and smile.

Say a simple prayer of thanks and then feel the warmth of God’s love. Tell yourself, I am blessed.
