Make it better

Don’t allow life to make you bitter, ask God to make you better.

Some cultures believe you can make things better with food. So if you are sad or depressed, eat something. If you are excited or extremely happy, eat something. There is probably some truth in this formula for making things better.

Music, soft and gentle, can also help you cope with the stresses of life.

Maybe, if at all possible, a shower or bath can also influence your mood.

Looking at these things that, from the outside, can influence your emotional state, I have become aware of our options.

I can choose to influence my state of heart by exposing myself to certain influences. I can also choose to expose myself to things that can worsen the situation.

Passing the buck is not only a politician’s way of escape, it can be yours too.

None of us control all the events of our lives – an accident, illness, domestic problem, to mention a few possible disruptions. I cannot choose whether to be retrenched or not, but I have the choice to make things better or worse. The buck stops with me. Maybe three key words can become a mantra helping you to make things better –

Stop! Rushing about in frantic activity may steal your solution. Wait on God for a moment.

Look! Look at all your options and blessings. As you see your blessings, your mindset changes.

Listen! Listen to God’s voice guiding you through the maze of life. Remember that scripture, “Be still and know that I am God”.

PS: Don’t allow life to make you bitter, ask God to make you better. Amen!
