In those pages lie the key to life

Pastor Gerrit Mes; from the pulpit.

For most people, the most valuable asset they own is their home. Yes, I know family and health are important, but in my life they are priceless.

A family in England heard the news that their father had passed away. He was old and it was inevitable. After the funeral came the task of clearing out his house. Most of his humble possessions were given to the Salvation Army but the family picked a few sentimental items to remember him by. The television was propped up on an old, abused but oddly unique box cupboard. Someone made the ridiculous suggestion of having it valued. It could be worth something. It sold on auction for R107 000 000,00. Yes, one hundred and seven million Rand.

The old man did not know the value of the box cupboard or its potential to change his life.

As I read this story, I wondered how many of us possess something that could change our lives forever.

Then I thought of my late father’s Bible. On auction it would not fetch much, but it has great value to me. In those pages lie the key to life. The secrets of happiness. Yes, in those pages we can find wealth unlimited. Most of us own a copy of a Holy Book, but do we realise its potential? Why not open one today and see for yourself.
