Being positive really does help

Pastor Gerrit Mes; from the pulpit.

I was recently given a book on the importance of a good, healthy attitude. We all know the mantra, “Your attitude will determine your altitude”.

Well, this book shocked and challenged me with research findings on the subject of attitude. Apparently The World Health Organisation found that a pessimist has a 19 per cent higher chance of dying young than an optimist. But it was the next finding that shocked me. A negative person has a 95 per cent higher probability to develop cancer than a positive person. It is claimed that there are adverse effects on a person’s physical wellness that exhibit through anxiety, even depression. These things, in turn, lead to stress and that kills. Please don’t judge me, this is not my research.

They also claim that a person with HIV/ Aids who has a positive attitude is 300 000 times more resistant to the disease than someone with a negative attitude.

Is it possible that a negative attitude can have such effects on your health? The good news is, with God’s help you can change your attitude.

PS. Next time you meet a negative person, run, hide – it’s a dangerous world.
