Beware of scamsters at licensing office

Susan van Rensburg from Wentworth Park writes:

My husband and I were due to have our driver’s licences renewed.

We went to a local professional photographer to have our photos taken. He explained the procedure to us that we would need one photo for our files and another photo will be taken at the Licence Department to go onto the licence disk.

From there we proceeded to the Mogale City Licensing Department in Delporton for the renewal process.

On arrival we were told by a security lady that we had to complete a specific form and then have our photos taken before we could join the long queue.

At the office where the photos are being taken, we showed the lady the photos we had with us to which she replied, “They don’t accept colour photos”.

We paid her and had our photos taken. While waiting for the prints, we noticed a poster on the wall stating colour photos are permitted.

The photos she took looked awful, to say the least. We used the ones taken by the professional photographer, which were accepted without any problems.

I am not sure if this woman taking the photos is a Council employee or not, but I suspect this is her private business and the security lady brings her customers.

With this letter I wish to warn residents who go to have their licences renewed to be aware of this situation and that you may use photos taken elsewhere, whether colour or black and white.
