Paardies Gr 1s on their first day of school

Bonds between learners and teachers have been formed and new friends made at Laerskool Paardekraal Primary as the new set of Gr 1s started their first day of school.

Many youngsters took their first big step in education on January 17 and for the Grade Ones who joined Laerskool Paardekraal Primary this year, it was no different.

The 2024 academic year has begun and so also a new chapter. Noticeably, learners were dressed to the tee wearing their brand-new oversized blazers. They were also armed with their stationery, eager to introduce themselves to fellow learners or teachers. Why not? They are indeed in big school.

While many learners were excited, some were overwhelmed as they could not understand why mom and dad simply dropped them off all on their own. However, teachers were quick to step in and console them – a bond that will last for the next few years.

The News engaged with some learners, asking them what their dreams and aspirations are. Ontathile Nelson said that she wants to be a doctor one day. Another learner, Rorisang Modise, said he is looking forward to extra mural activities.
