Amigos and família gather to Festa in true Portuguese style

The Krugersdorp Festa attracted more than 3 000 people to enjoy a day in the Portuguese spirit.

The Krugersdorp Festa brought the community together in true Portuguese style.

Held on October 6, Festa committee member Grace Caldeira said it was hosted by the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

“It exceeded all expectations with an estimated more than 3 000 people coming to celebrate and support a cause close to their hearts – raising funds for the church,” she said.

Grace added that from the moment guests stepped through the gates, they were transported to the vibrant streets of Madeira, thanks to the stunning décor that captured the spirit of this cherished island.

“The sense of excitement and unity was contagious as families, friends and visitors from near and far came together to enjoy the day,” she excitedly said.

She continued the entertainment line-up was a highlight with a memorable performance by Miro Freitas, who flew in from Madeira, making the day even more special. Local sensation Miguel Pregueiro also lit up the stage with his energy while Fatima Nery’s soulful voice touched the crowd.

DJ Miki kept the atmosphere buzzing and their very own Rancho Dancers brought the tradition to life with their mesmerising performances, leaving everyone in awe.

“It was a day filled with music, dance, laughter and, most importantly, a deep sense of community. We were overwhelmed by the support and generosity of everyone who attended, whether they were enjoying the food, cheering on the performers, or simply soaking in the festive atmosphere. The funds raised from the event will make a meaningful difference to our church, allowing us to continue our mission of service and care,” she explained.

“We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone including our performers, volunteers, and attendees for making this day one we will always remember. The Krugersdorp Festa wouldn’t be what it is without the love and dedication of each one of you,” she concluded.
