The Dominion Acclaimed Reviving Territories (DART) Foundation will be hosting its annual fundraiser golf day on September 12 at the Ruimsig Country Club. They urge the community to help make a difference by supporting not just the golf day but future initiatives.
Nico Fourie, founder of the foundation said Krugersdorp is a town historically plagued by a negative reputation grappling with rising crime rates and well-publicised tragedies that have garnered understandable attention. The prevalent issues of substance abuse, unemployment and homelessness in the locality are of significant concern.
According to Nico, he knew he had to create sustainable empowerment rather than mere philanthropy. He then got inspired by numerous foundations to propel the future and focused on establishing sustainable practices that positively impact and transform lives.
The foundation has since taken hands with the Curamus School for Autism to establish vegetable garden tunnels, where this initiative helps feed the 45 underprivileged and their families, and also helps the children with their developmental journey.
Another project of the foundation was unveiled in July, where they collaborated with Legends Barbers. They opened a skills development centre in Krugersdorp, offering training in computer literacy and business skills, where computers were donated by the Humanitarian Empowerment Fund.
Looking ahead, the foundation aims to broaden its vocational training programmes to encompass carpentry, plumbing, hairdressing and electrical work, aligning with the multifaceted requirements of the community.
Nico concluded that the community should join the golf day, to help support their cause, whether through volunteering time or other resources.
