Krugersdorp Game Reserve damaged in fire

Emergency services provide details regarding a recent raging fire at the Krugersdorp Game Reserve.

The Krugersdorp Game Reserve suffered extensive fire damage last week.

According to West Rand Emergency Services station officer Craig Marsden, they received a call at about 21:40 on June 27. He said there was a grass fire at the game reserve and houses on adjacent properties were also threatened.

“On our arrival, we found a huge grass fire, extending from the N14 to R24. The wind was moderate to strong, and the terrain was difficult to reach. In the early hours of June 28, the fire restarted – presumably because of windy conditions – in two localities. The fire brigade and AfriForum again assisted to control and extinguish the fire,” Marsden said.

Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths and no further flare-ups.
