Cloud of smoke along R28 due to big veld fire
A veld fire has caused a property containing rubber to catch fire.
Firefighters are currently attending to a fire next to the R28 in the Chancliff area.
According to an eyewitness on the scene, the big cloud of smoke is the result of a veld on fire. The fire has extended to a landowner’s storage area, which is said to contain vulcanised rubber used in road building.
The witness continued to say that the fire brigade arrived at about noon and no injuries have been reported at this stage.
There are two fire trucks on the scene with about 10 firefighters tending to the fire.
