Kagiso Police address residents about crime

Kagiso Police addresses the community about crime having agreed to work together.

Kagiso Police Station Commander Brigadier Nyelisani Mabatha had a heart-to-heart chat with the community of Kagiso, on June 26.

According to West Rand District Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya, the purpose was to engage with the public face-to-face about putting community structures in place to tackle crime.

A resident raises his concerns.

Mabatha was accompanied by detectives, the commander of the police’s Visible Police Unit (Vispol), representatives from Community Safety, the Social Crime Prevention co-ordinator, and the acting CPF chairperson.

“Addressing residents, the brigadier indicated that residents indirectly contribute to crime. This may include poverty and inconsistent parenting which increase the chances of becoming involved in criminal activity and violence. Some people might also know of person(s), even friends, who are in the country illegally,” Sibiya said.

He added, “Having listened to all concerns and frustrations from residents, the brigadier and her management reached an agreement to work together.”
