From Lesotho to Krugersdorp for a charitable cause

The Solutionary Walk organisation targets to raise R24 million this year for various student needs and sustainable community projects.

The Solutionary Walk organisation intends to raise awareness and funds through a 600km walk from Maseru in Lesotho to Krugersdorp West in commemoration of Youth Month.

The walk will take place from June 26 and they are expected to arrive on July 5.

“The Solutionary Walk targets to raise R24 million this year for various student needs and sustainable community projects. This initiative will transform lives by breaking the unemployment margin, providing tertiary funding, and breaking social and economic equality,” explained pastor and founder of Solutionary Walk, Tona Moroke.

According to Tona, the funds obtained from the walk will be used in four different ways which are to provide funding for tertiary student needs including accommodation, transport, food, and tuition fees.

“Our lifetime mentoring programme and farewell of grade sevens to the coast will be funded by this walk. We will also identify candidates who are in grade 12 for possible tertiary funding and also try to help out in the community, especially the families that are facing unemployment,” Tona elaborated.

The candidates recently had a shadow-shifting event at Spur in Key West Shopping Centre where the walkers had to waitress the tables for two hours. The aim was to raise money for the organisation. The team of 14 walkers from the different universities will follow a route that will allow stops at schools, universities, and community organisations to promote the walk, inspire communities, and provide career exhibitions. Tona encouraged citizens to invest in the walk and make an impact.
