UniCollege raises over R3 000 for CANSA

Cancer remains one of the most serious diseases threatening human health and many people as well as organisations in town hope to create as much awareness as possible.

UniCollege students recently came together in support of cancer awareness at the 2024 Cancer Association of South Africa’s (CANSA) Shavathon. Instead of traditional shaving, participants opted for colourful hair spray, raising R3 700 for CANSA.

The event was held at the UniCollege campus and saw students transforming their hair into a spectrum of bright colours, symbolising their solidarity with cancer patients. Cheers and laughter filled the air as participants proudly showcased their colourful hairstyles.

Through their creative expressions, students not only raised funds but also sparked important conversations about cancer prevention and support. The success of the colourful Shavathon highlights the UniCollege community’s commitment to making a difference in our local community and the fight against cancer.

According to UniCollege Campus Manager Jackie Loots, the funds raised will contribute directly to CANSA’s initiatives in cancer awareness, patient support, and research.

“UniCollege extends its gratitude to all participants and supporters for their colourful contributions to this worthy cause,” she said.
