Helping the less fortunate with the Esperança Foundation

Residents of Krugersdorp are encouraged to play their part in aiding the less fortunate by supporting a local organisation's 40-day project.

The Esperança Foundation is calling for willing residents to support their 40-day community outreach project.

The organisation is known to reach out to the less fortunate in the community and hopes to make a difference yet again. Of course, they cannot do it without the community’s help and its founder, Yolande Pestana pleaded for assistance from kind-hearted individuals and organisations.

The Esperança Foundation appeals to residents to help them with their charitable efforts.

Every year, the organisation asks the community to donate one item to them every day for 40 days. The idea is that you place one item in a bag every day and give them the bag with the items at the end of the 40 days. These donations are then used to help needy families in the community.

If there are leftover items which cannot be distributed, Esperança will either exchange them or sell them on their Facebook page. This in turn raises funds to still buy food and other essential items for needy families.

According to Pestana, this project is one of the many that they will embark on throughout the year. The organisation further caters to many of the vulnerable people in town including people in frail care and children’s homes.

The organisation was formerly known as Hope for the Future.

“We hope the community can give us a hand so we can assist the destitute. We cannot do it without you.”
