Three major substance abuse events coming to the West Rand

If you or a loved one is caught in addiction and you would like to learn more and get help, diarise these dates for the Africa Back to God event.

The West Rand community is invited to attend a faith-based drug talk conference in the coming months.

The Africa Back to God events will take place in Randfontein on October 21 and November 18 this year as well as January 20 in 2024. The event will include praying for those struggling with substance abuse, praise and worship, fellowship, sharing testimonies, educating victims on where to find help, and educating loved ones on how to support their loved ones struggling with substance abuse.

Darrel Roberts who is part of the planning committee and who will be sharing his own testimony said, “I am very excited indeed and very honoured to be involved with various pastors and fellow children of God.” He described them as a group of amazing people whose lives revolve around God and his people.

He said the conference will be held in three parts and will be informal. It is a free function aimed at raising awareness about substance abuse and the treatments available. Pastor Eugene Opperman will share a message and then there will be testimonies from active addicts, active recoveries, and family and friends of both.

You can also enjoy a boerieroll on the house during the meet and greet segment.

This event is held with the support of the Department of Social Development, police, and various rehabs (private and government). No booking is required and free transport will be available from Randfontein, Mohlakeng, Krugersdorp and Kagiso.
