Some West Rand and Johannesburg residents might have been woken up by the feeling of the earth moving last night on Wednesday, 4 October.
Maybe it was zama zamas digging underground? Perhaps it was your neighbour stubbing their toe too hard, or someone decided to use a sledgehammer at an unnecessary hour?
According to a statement by Gauteng Weather on X (previously known as Twitter), there have been multiple reports of a tremor in parts of Johannesburg and the West Rand at about 21:25 on Wednesday, 4 October.

This tremor comes almost two months after one was also felt on the West Rand on August 31.
