West Rand cops honoured in Muldersdrift

Cops past and present as well as CPF and community safety members were among those honoured at a glitz and glam award ceremony held in Muldersdrift recently.

Brave men and women are needed to keep communities safe – more often than not specifically the police who vow to serve and protect.

In a glittering, stunning, colourful and well-organised event to appreciate all law enforcement agencies, stakeholders and social partners who did well and excelled in their various fields of performance, the West Rand District Police Commissioner Major-General Fred Kekana stood tall on stage with expressed with confidence his gratitude to all recipients and attendees.

Kekana’s guests included the recently retired Gauteng Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Corporate Services, Major-General Patricia Rampota, West Rand Police management, Gauteng Community Safety, Mogale City MMC for Public Safety Francis Makgatho, West Rand District MMC for Public Safety Tumelo Molusi who represented the district mayor, members of the West Rand District CPF, retired officers as well as sponsors.

Kekana honoured recipients from 25 different categories including the District Commissioner’s Special Awards which covered retired officers, former communication officers, social crime co-ordinators, stakeholders, social partners and sponsors.

The junior commissioners also received their symbolic jackets which they would be expected to wear at their official provincial inauguration in Midrand the next day.

• CPF of the Year

In his keynote address, Kekana praised everyone including stakeholders and social partners for their contribution.

“The province, the legislator and even the national office respect the West Rand because of our dedication and hard work. I wish to thank you all,” echoed Kekana.
