Youth and fun go hand-in-hand and the youth in Kagiso decided to welcome spring during a market day recently.
Main Reef Market is a social market venue that works with artists, entrepreneurs, and creatives in the West Rand District Municipality. Their goal is to revitalise the area’s economy and create opportunities for the youth of Kagiso and West Rand at large.

The activities that took place included live music, stalls to have your pick of beautiful items, food, arts and crafts and some fun activities for children.
Organiser Thabo Dishan confirmed that the market also reaches out to the community.
“The market also hopes to serve the community as the proceeds go into investing projects for the youth of Kagiso by creating skills and employment. As part of a social responsibility investment or impact investment initiative, we will pledge a portion of the proceeds made from the market to the Main Reef Market Education Initiative which will assist deserving learners in the community with school fees as well as other educational material needs.

“We also commit to working with entrepreneurs, artists and creatives around the West Rand District Municipality. This is part of our economic and poverty alleviation plan,” Dishan confirmed.
The youth of Kagiso all took part in the event and enjoyed a variety of activities.
