Living their bodybuilding dream

Bodybuilders displayed their incredible physique and toned muscles during a bodybuilding competition at Silverstar.

Silverstar recently hosted the National Amateur Body-Builders’ Association (NABBA) Team Chaz Classic where both men and women showed off their best poses, angles and muscles.

NABBA was founded in the mid-20th century by the Health and Strength League to promote bodybuilding. NABBA International has affiliations with over 60 countries all over the world where many men as well as women, young and old, are allowed to showcase the hard work they put in the gym.

The history of NABBA as an organisation can be traced back to 1898 when American entrepreneur Bernarr Macfadden and English cycling enthusiast Hopton Hadley, teamed up to promote what would become the earliest physical culture magazine where men and women would display their extraordinary physic in newspapers and magazines.

On July 29 in Krugersdorp, Team Chaz Training Studios and NABBA put on the first show in Gauteng post-Covid leaving the audience amazed with what the human body is capable of.

The NABBA Team Chaz Classic was well attended with so much talent on the stage. Spectators were not only left enchanted by the competitors but were also accommodated with an energetic ambiance with music and singing from Christian Heath to dancing from Val Miles Dance School and MC for the event, Monique de Villiers (radio presenter from 5FM).

Charmaine Howell, the organiser and founder of Team Chaz Training Studios, was thrilled and proud of the support received throughout the day.

“We had great new talent and lots of entertainment from our artists and it’s always great for our athletes to get recognition from all the hard work they put in when the day comes when it is time to compete.”

The competition saw over 30 categories where men and women would compete for top prizes, from categories such as Junior Men’s, Miss Bikini, Men’s Class 4, and Miss Athletics Figure among other various categories however the top 4 overall winners were the athletes who stole the show.
