Police engage with Tarlton communities

'The objective of the visit was to educate the community about crimes and abuse in general.'

The West Rand and Tarlton police recently visited the communities of Matshelapad and Seroba to educate them about crime, share safety tips and engage with the community.

West Rand District Police spokesperson Sergeant Sabina Mashego explained that the communication and social crime prevention officers from the West Rand were joined by the Tarlton police station commander Lieutenant Colonel Magooe, the crime prevention wardens, community policing forum chairperson Reuben Ditsebe and members from the victim-friendly room.

“The objective of the visit was to educate the community about crimes such as domestic violence, gender-based violence, child negligence, house robberies, business robberies, hijackings, and abuse in general. The team started in Matshelapad and went door-to-door, handing out pamphlets with safety tips. They then moved on to Seroba.”

Magooe also addressed the community about crime and strongly advised them not to neglect their children.

“She also assured them that the police will always respond to any complaint or crime that is brought to their attention and encouraged the community to work together with the police.”

The community is advised to report any crime to the Tarlton police on 011 952 0012 or the Crime stop number on 08600 10111.

Mashego said that they reached about 150 people and distributed 100 pamphlets.
