Man arrested for tampering with infrastructure in K’dorp West

Krugersdorp Police, with the help of two security guards, arrested a suspect for tampering with essential infrastructure over the weekend.

A 38-year-old man was arrested for theft and tampering with essential infrastructure over the weekend.

Captain Raymond Sebonya, Krugersdorp Police spokesperson said at about 12:59 on Sunday, January 8, a security officer working for Bidvest Security was on duty when he received a call from his radio control about a theft in progress at a school in Jones Street, Krugersdorp West.

“On arrival at the scene he found another security officer from FosterTech Security Services who had already apprehended the suspect. The suspect was found inside the MTN network tower where he was found in possession of three circuit breakers, an earth steal plate, electric wires and three blocks breakers.

“The police were called to the scene and a case of tampering with essential infrastructure and theft was opened. The suspect was detained in police custody and he will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court soon.”

Krugersdorp Police Station Commander Brigadier Happy Xaba applauded the security officers for a job well done and working together with the police by making sure that those who commit crime are brought to justice.
