In the midst of 16 Days of Activism, police members from all 13 stations in the West Rand visited the communities of Hekpoort and Magaliesburg to raise awareness about some of the most heinous crimes that occur in the district.
The members were accompanied by the Hekpoort Community Policing Forum (CPF), both the Hekpoort and Magaliesburg Victim Empowerment Centres, the Magaliesburg gender-based violence (GBV) brigade and Krugersdorp Youth Crime Prevention desk.
In a statement from Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Captain Raymond Sebonyane, he said they were focusing on the Masahane informal settlement in Hekpoort and Portion informal settlement in Ga-Mogale in Magaliesburg.
They spoke about GBV, domestic violence, substance abuse, human trafficking, illegal gambling, sexual offences and also shared some safer festive season tips.
“Community members were also advised not to buy stolen goods,” said Captain Sebonyane.
Police further appealed to all communities to report crime and work hand-in-hand with the police.
You can report crime by contacting the Crime Stop Number on 08600 10111, by sending a SMS to 32211 or using the MySAPS App.
