A run to help a community

Running for the big dogs never felt this good.

Running a distance does not sound like the ideal way to spend your Saturday morning, however, when you add foam, a nice weather and a good reason to run such as supporting the charity Friends Of Rescued Animals (Fora), then running or walking on a Saturday morning does not seem that bad after all.

UniCollege hosted their annual 5km Fun Run & Walk and Foam Party on Saturday, November 5.

This year the fun run was held in aid of Fora, which is one of the institution’s preferred charity organisations to support, and spokesperson of UniCollege Laricia Smit explained they feel that sometimes animal rescues are overlooked, and understand there is a need to help those who look after abused and abandoned animals in our communities.

Students, staff members, family and friends all came out to support the day, running the 5km through the streets of Kenmere where everyone could cool down in a foam booth on the UniCollege campus. Those who reached the finishing line received a medal however, “Cash prizes were also up for grabs for the several category winners” said Laricia.
