Is your business or home in debt? Municipality brings forth a deal

The municipality says an arrangement plan can be requested for those residents or businesses in municipal debt.

While Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) strives to collect as much owed as possible, it also acknowledges that some households and businesses may be struggling to make ends meet given the country’s current economic challenges.

MCLM communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu stated under these circumstances, they invite such ratepayers to approach their Revenue Management Division for alternative payment arrangements where a ‘down payment’ will also be determined to avoid penalties and municipal service disconnections.

“For a payment plan, visit our revenue offices situated on the corner of Commissioner and Market Street in the Krugersdorp CBD with a valid copy of the account holder’s identity card and the account holder’s three months bank statements,” Refilwe said.

For businesses, or due to a deceased estate and liquidation or sequestration, the following documents are required:

Business arrangement:
• Six months bank statements
• Lease Agreement
• Motivation on company letterhead
• Audited financial statements
• Director/ member ID documents
• Company registration letter
• Initial payment (money)
• ID documents of directors

Liquidation/ Sequestration/ Debt review:
• Debt review letter
• Three or six months’ bank statements
• Salary advice
• Letter of executorship
• Letter of authority
• Initial payment (money)
• ID document
