Water in Muldersdrift and surrounds affected by pipe burst

Residents of particularly Muldersdrift and surrounds can expect possible water cuts due to a pipe burst in Honeydew.

Johannesburg Water (JW) has revealed a major burst along the outlet pipe of the Honeydew Reservoir which also supplies parts of Mogale City.

Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu said the isolation of water supply to affected reservoirs and pumping water out the valves started Sunday night (September 29) and an assessment, which will be followed by repair work, started this morning, September 30.

“Although we do not anticipate this to affect a large part of the city, we appeal to residents and businesses particularly Muldersdrift and surrounding areas to use water sparingly and restrict consumption for household use to avoid possible supply interruptions. We also urge residents to refrain from trying to store water by filling bathtubs and containers until repair work is complete,” she added.

She concluded JW is unable to provide an estimated time for the completion of repairs or the restoration of the water supply.
