Refuse collection services to resume

The recent fire at the Luipaardsvlei Landfill Site has now affected refuse collection services to a point where it was temporarily suspended.

Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) informed residents that refuse collection services were suspended until further notice following another fire outbreak at the landfill site.

This morning (August 30) however, residents were alerted via various community groups, that refuse collection will resume today, but this can change if the situation becomes unstable again.

MCLM communications officer Adrian Amod said the suspension of the refuse services was a result of the most recent fire at the Luipaardsvlei Landfill Site and ongoing work that prevents their trucks from accessing the site.

“We plead with those affected to refrain from emptying bins in open fields which will not only be burdensome for surrounding residents and businesses but also harm the environment,” Amod concluded.
