Where there’s smoke, there’s fire at the landfill site

The municipality revealed another fire outbreak occurring at the Luipaardsvlei Landfill Site during the weekend.

The Luipaardsvlei Landfill Site experienced yet another fire last Friday.

On July 19, Mogale City’s Department of Integrated Environmental Management informed residents and businesses located within proximity of the Luipaardsvlei Landfill Site of the fire outbreak.

Mogale City Local Municipality communications officer Adrian Amod said measures were being taken to ensure the fire was contained to limit the impact on adjacent communities.

He added that, as required, the landfill is still accessible to residents.

“Members of the public will be kept abreast of the situation. We apologise to all affected parties for the inconvenience caused,” Amod concluded.
