Is Mogale corrupt?
The mayor responds to allegations of maladministration within the municipality.
Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) noted with concern the ongoing circulation of allegations in different co-ordinated media circles relating to maladministration in the municipality.
Recently, The Devi Show aired on eTV containing numerous allegations against MCLM including mismanagement of municipal funds, dodgy tenders and basic service delivery.
MCLM Executive Mayor Danny Thupane said in response that while the municipality awaits and will co-operate with whatever processes may unfold, no direct response on issues aired on national television will be provided at this stage.
“We do, however, note that these ongoing allegations paint a grim picture of a municipality on the brink of collapse due to its said inability to deliver basic services,” Thupane said.
“Notwithstanding, it should be noted that since 2022 there have been major achievements in the areas of financial management, governance, service delivery and making the municipality eligible for increased External Grant Funding,” Thupane added.
He concluded to assure their constituency and other stakeholders that in line with their mission the municipality remains committed to providing sustainable services for an improved quality of life for all Mogale City residents.
