Municipality on an eco-friendly mission in Munsieville

Mogale City officials and the Gauteng Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment planted more than 500 trees in celebration of environmental wellness.

The Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) played their part in maintaining a green and eco-friendly environment by organising a tree planting occasion in Munsieville.

According to MCLM communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu, the event was aimed at highlighting the importance of trees by providing clean air, good health and countering climate change.

Many made their way to Munsieville to highlight the importance of taking care of the environment.

“The event also sought to inspire Mogale City residents to plant trees in their households and act against pressing issues such as deforestation and climate change,” said Mahlangu.

Led by Executive Mayor Danny Thupane as a host city delegate, the speaker of the council, Lucky Sele, as well as members of the mayoral committee, other Mogale City officials from the Integrated Environmental Management Department, and representatives of various agricultural entities planted over 500 indigenous and fruit trees not to mention seven symbolic trees in different sections of Munsieville.
