Mindalore stabbing victim identified

Family identifies the man who was fatally stabbed on September 11 in Mindalore. Police also confirmed a murder investigation is underway.

The victim of last week’s stabbing, who died on the island along Albertina Sisulu Road in Mindalore, has been identified as 39-year-old Chance Holmes.

Krugersdorp Police Station Commander Brigadier Happy Xaba has since also confirmed a case of murder is being investigated.

“The victim had a stab wound to the chest and his stomach ripped open. He was declared dead by EMS personnel on the scene. The suspect is unknown at the moment,” Xaba said.

The victim’s brother, Craig Barnard, said he was devastated by the news.

“He was the most generous person I knew. The last time I saw and spoke to him [a day before the murder] we had a good heart-to-heart discussion as brothers would,” Barnard said.
