WANTED: Two men for questioning in sexual assault case

A victim of a sexual assault has provided local police with a detailed description of two men wanted for questioning.

Police are asking for help in locating two men wanted for questioning in a sexual assault case.

According to West Rand District Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya, a woman was at her home in the Holomisa section in Bekkersdal with her child when two men approached her at about 23:30 on June 11.

“The victim described one of the men as short and slender. He was also wearing a blue overall and reflector jacket. She added he was aggressive and speaking Southern Sotho. It is expected that he is aged between 36 and 40. His accomplice was tall and dark in complexion, chubby, and wearing a torn navy jersey with a collar. He was also speaking Southern Sotho. He is between 40 and 45,” Sibiya said.

Sibiya added one of the men drew a firearm and fired a shot in the air, threatening the victim not to scream.

“The men then dragged the victim into an open space where they took turns sexually assaulting her. The victim was later discovered by a community safety patroller,” Sibiya said.

The two men pictured, according to Sibiya, may have information that can assist police in tracking down the two rape perpetrators.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of these men can call the investigation officer, Detective Constable Mabelane, on 081 881 0747.

Alternatively, members of the public can call 08600 10111 or use SMS 32211 to send their tip-offs anonymously.
