A statement from Captain Solomon Sibiya from the Kagiso police explained that the arrest took place in Soul City early this month after the child’s family phoned the police.

The mother told police that she realised her daughter was missing when her mother-in-law visited them and asked about the 11-year-old at around 15:30.

A family member who also came to visit then told them where she thought the child was and the family went out to search for the missing girl. they headed to the man’s shack which was only a few metres away.

When they knocked on his door he refused to open and the family then decided to phone the police. The man opened the door for the police and the family and he was placed under arrest.
