Woman robbed at gunpoint, one nabbed so far

A large group of suspects targeted a shack in Sinqobile while a woman and her son were still inside. One suspect has been arrested since while another four are at large.

The Kagiso Police have arrested and questioned a man after a woman claimed that she was robbed by four unknown suspects at gunpoint.

Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said the 22-year-old house robbery suspect was arrested in Sinqobile last Thursday, March 9. The victim opened the case the day before on Wednesday, March 8, and told the police at about 02:00 on March 7, she was robbed at gunpoint.

She alleged that she was asleep in her shack with her 14-year-old son when the four suspects forced their way inside and a fifth suspect was waiting at the gate.

“Two suspects were allegedly armed with a firearm each, whereas their two accomplices were armed with unknown dangerous weapons.”

The suspects took her 32-inch plasma TV, three cellphones, and two 5kg chicken portions.

The police’s investigations lead to the arrest of one suspect while four others are still on the run and therefore the police are appealing to the community to assist them with information that can contribute to the successful apprehension of the suspects.
