Residents of the Video Informal Settlement woke up to a gruesome discovery on Tuesday morning, November 29 after a double-murder took place.
West Rand District Police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks explained that a 28-year old and 36-year old were shot at about 03:00.
She said the Muldersdrift Police received a call about a shooting in the informal settlement in Rietfontein and when they arrived, they found both victims had been shot in the upper body.
It is alleged that they were asleep when they heard the door being broken down. The man then stood up and went to investigate. He was confronted by an unknown suspect who then shot him.
“The suspect went straight into the bedroom and shot the second victim. The suspect then ran away.”
Sergeant Hendricks added that emergency services were called and declared both victims dead on scene.
“The motive for the killing is unknown and nothing was taken from their house. A murder case was opened and the case is being investigated.”
She added that the Muldersdrift Police detectives are asking the community to come forward with information that can assist to bring this perpetrator to book.
