The Krugersdorp Regional Court recently convicted and sentenced the 40-year-old Lucky Sibiya to 15 years imprisonment for a house robbery he committed in 2016.
Sibiya was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Captain Raymond Sebonyane explained that Sibiya was found guilty of the robbery committed on July 4, 2016 at a house on the corner of Struben Avenue and Wren Street in Rant-en Dal.
On the day of the crime, the victim and his friend were in the house. At about 13:30 they suddenly saw two unknown men inside the house – one armed with a knife and the other one was holding a brick. The latter threatened to attack the victims if they didn’t comply.
The victims’ hands were then tied with a telephone cord and the thugs took a handbag with all the victims’ belongings, R800 in cash, an ID book, bank cards as well as a medical aid card.

A case of house robbery was opened and the local Criminal Record Centre was summoned to the scene.
They collected all the evidence and sent it to the Forensic Laboratory.”
On September 19, 2018 detective Sergeant Hosea Lelahane was doing suspects tracing and went to Zola North in Soweto where he arrested Sibiya who was linked to the case through DNA results. The case was investigated by detective Sergeant Andrew Maswanganyi who made sure that the state secured a sentence.
