Chaos caused by protesters in Kagiso and surrounds

Police confirmed that a Kagiso shutdown is underway and warned members of the public to avoid the whole of Kagiso.
Protesters took to the streets on Thursday morning August 4 blocking entrances and exit routes in the township.

Nearby Mindalore is also said to be affected.
Social media has been abuzz with reports about the chaotic scenes. One post reads “This forms part of their protest over the failure of officials to close unused mines and escalating crime”.
