Krugersdorp Police visited Curro Krugersdorp Primary School on Monday, May 23 to address learners in preparation for Child Protection Week (May 29 to June 4).
Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Captain Raymond Sebonyane said 120 grade 7 learners were addressed about sexual offences, teenage pregnancy, peer pressure, human trafficking, bullying, fighting, stealing and substance abuse. The learners were also given an opportunity to ask questions.

According to an official police statement, Child Protection Week was established in 1997 to raise awareness about the need for police employees and the communities to protect children from abuse, neglect, exploitation and other forms of violence and ill treatment.
Learners were also encouraged to report any criminal activities to the Krugersdorp Police immediately on 011 951 1151 or to contact the Crime Stop Line on 08600 10111. Information may also be communicated via the My SAPS app or the SMS number 32211 and remain anonymous,” said Captain Sebonyane.
Curro Krugersdorp Primary School Head Harry Bateman thanked the police for their presence and honouring the invitation.
