CIT heist: Manhunt launched for gang of 12, two security guards injured

At least 12 suspects were involved in the robbery of a G4S cash van when it was traveling from Silverstar.

Gauteng Police have launched a manhunt for a group of 12 that bombed and robbed a G4S cash van on Paardekraal Drive on Wednesday evening December 22.

National police spokesperson Colonel Athlenda Mathe confirmed the CIT heist saying that at about 18:45, a G4S cash van which had just left from Silverstar, was rammed by a Mercedes Benz while traveling along the R28.

“Other suspects were also in a white GTI and blue Hyundai.”

The suspects then randomly started shooting at the cash van and security personnel were forced out of the van before it was blown up.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken before the suspects fled the scene in various vehicle’s.”

Two security personnel sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. They were also both disarmed of their service pistols.

“All role-players have been activated.”
