Fun and support at Moors Castle market day

A market day to support small business and charity was held at Moors Castle recently.

Bracing the cold weather and adhering to Covid-19 protocols saw the first of hopefully many more Moors Castle Markets recently.

Debra Wright, one of the organisers explained how they wanted to host these markets on a monthly basis in support of small businesses across all sectors, and Moors Castle in Muldersdrift was very kind to allow them to use their facilities.

But supporting small businesses is not the only benefit of this new market. Once a month they will also choose a charity organisation to support, and this time they have chosen the Cradle of Hope.

The money made from the entrance fees will be donated to the organisation. All the vendors also donate one item from their stall, which is then auctioned off, and the proceeds will be donated.

Unfortunately due to the rise in Covid-19 cases many of the children’s activities planned for their June 5 market had to be cancelled, but luckily it did not take away from the fun of the day.

“People have become entrepreneurs, and we believe in supporting them and give to charity organisations, many of whom have lost their funding after the lockdown.”
